Redintegrate part one
The morning was crisp and clear as Dale Webbington decided to leave for work. Opening up his front door, the cold air of November rushed in and stimulated every cell in Dale's body.
1.) 6:30am, what a great time to be awake.
Dale walked threw the door outside and locked the dead bolt behind him. There were a few cars driving on the main road outside Dale's house. Normal for this time in the morning. All of a sudden, Dale thought he was being watched closely. The feeling creeped him out, so Dale left for the bus stop trying not to think about it. He had a long enough journey to go into work, let alone starting to get paranoid before hand over nothing.
Dale could be described by anyone who knows him as a typical stonner. The big joint he smoked before leaving his house was obviously the reason he was getting so paranoid.
Crossing the main road to get to the bus stop, Dale noticed the sun starting to come up in the distance. The sky was turning a slight tinge of purple as the sun slowly moved its way from around the horizon. Something felt special about today, like the world was trying to tell Dale something.
Making it to the bus stop, Dale pulled out a pack of cigarettes and pulled one out. Lighting up the smoke, he took a deep inhale on it.
I have to quit smoking Dale thought as he pulled another drag on his cancer stick.
A gust of wind picked up and swirled the smoke into the sky and out of sight. Down at the end of the road, the bus turned the corner and started driving along the street.
Dale threw out what was left of his smoke and waited for the bus to get to him.
The giant people box pulled up to Dale and let out a hissing sound from under the bus. The door opened up and the bus driver was sitting in his seat like he always is with his giant purple nose you get from years of drinking, and his dark blue bus jacket. Dale stepped on and flashed the driver his bus pass. The door behind him swung shut and the people box took off. The thrust of the bus made Dale almost go into a jog to the back of the bus and he took his seat that he always sat in on his way to work. Now it was an almost hour bus ride into town. Dale pressed his head against the window and was asleep in no time at all.
2.)Alarm blazing, Ed Handly slammed his fist down on top of the clock shutting off the buzzing alarm. Looking at the clock, he really wanted to phone into work sick. Ed had a bad feeling about going anywhere today. Something just didn't seem right. Knowing that he had to go to work, Ed got out of bed and got himself ready.
20 minutes later, Ed was ready and leaving his house. Outside seemed quiet today. Almost to quiet. Usually someone was in Ed's alley warming there car up, or just walking by. Nothing today.
He walked around to the back of his house to find that his red Audi R-8 was still in perfect condition. Ed's prize possession he won in a lottery. It was the most beautiful thing in his life right now. Recently divorced, and finding out that the bank was going to take his house, this car was the only thing Ed had left that meant anything to him.
Pulling out his car keys, Ed opened the car door and got in. Before Ed closed the door, a man in a bed robe walked around the corner of his house. He was covered in blood from head to toe and looked badly hurt. Ed got out of the car and yelled over to him.
"Are you okay? You look hurt!"
The man swung his head around to look at Ed really really fast. Then the man screamed and puked up blood onto the ground.
Ed got worried and got back in the car closing the door. The man ran over to the Audi and started pounding on the passenger side window. Ed reached under his seat and got out a little .9mm pistol that he had illegally.
"Back the fuck off!" Ed yelled.
The man with one mighty fist broke his hand threw the window sending shards of glass everywhere. Ed pointed his gun and fired.
BANG!
The bullet went right into the guys gut without even the smallest of flinches. It was like he didn't even feel it.
The man got his head in the car and Ed fired off another bullet.
BANG!
This time it went right threw the guys head sending him backwards onto the ground.
Ed sat there a second breathing really heavily. He just killed a man.
Back over where the man had come from, four more people ran around the corner and started to pound of Ed's car. He started it up and put it in reverse. One of the people found the broken window and reached in. Ed stepped on the accelerator and the car took off backwards into the ally. He jammed it in drive and took off away from the people trying to hurt him.
3.) 47 minutes later, Dale awoke suddenly to find himself almost at the last bus stop, which happened to be his bus stop. The sun was fully out now, and all the people that were on the bus were not anymore. It was just Dale and the driver.
The next stop ahead, Dale noticed a man standing waiting for the bus. He had his head down as the bus pulled up to pick him up.
Dale started to get a bad feeling in his gut about this stop, just like butterflies in his stomach, only they were trying to claw there way out.
The people box came to a full stop, and the man and the bus stop immediately started to pound on the bus doors. The driver was holding onto the door lever so the man couldn't open the doors from the outside of the bus.
Dale got out of his seat and tried to figure out what this guy was doing.
After a minute of pounding, the man stopped what he was doing, took a step back then screamed at the top of his lungs. Puking up some blood onto the bus door, the man went back to pounding on the bus door, even harder this time.
Out of the corner of his eye, Dale noticed three more people walk from around the back of the bus and spot him. They all puked up blood onto the bus windows and started to pound there way in.
Freaking out now, Dale looked around for anyway off of this bus. The only option he could come up with was go out the roof escape.
Looking up and reading the instructions, Dale grabbed the red handle on the escape and twisted it counter clock-wise. The whole escape door came crashing down to the bus floor.
Dale took one last look at the front door to see the driver finally open it and get tackled back into his seat by the man. The driver started screaming and Dale did not hesitate anymore. He jumped straight up and pulled himself threw the hole in the roof. Holding onto the holes rim for support, the bus took off all of a sudden. Dale grabbed the rim so hard that his knuckles went white. The people box was swerving down the road picking up a lot of speed. Dale was scared shitless holding onto the top of the bus.
The giant box weaved in and out of empty lanes crashing into garbage cans and mail boxes. Dale's grip was starting to slip and there was nothing he could really do to fix it.
The wind whistled past Dale's ears with deaf like effect.
4.) Ed was panicking as he raced towards where ever in his nice red car. He could see the big grocery store that Ed always shopped at, and was shocked to see it engulfed in flames seventy feet high. Ed slowed down next to the parking lot of the grocery store and started.
What the fuck was going on?
Not coming up with any logical answer, Ed turned on the radio. The first thing he heard almost paralyzed him.
"This is a country wide emergency." The deep voice on the radio said." Canada and the rest of the world is under attack by an unknown virus. Please stay indoors and help will be on the way."
Ed turned the radio off and just sat in amazement.
An unknown virus?
Ed knew he shouldn't of left his house this morning. He wondered if he should go back, except those people might still be there.
In his mirror, Ed saw a bus come swerving down the road. He turned his head to get a netter look and saw that someone was hanging onto the top of the bus.
Ed got out of his car and stared at the bus that was moving fast.
It was headed for disaster fast.
5.) A small bridge up ahead that crossed a little river that the government couldn't fill up because it was a natural salmon habitat, was coming fast. Dale could see it. There was no way this bus would be able to cross that little bridge.
Dale held on as tight as he could as the bus came up to the bridge.
At the last second, the bus took a sharp turn right and crashed into the bridge wall exploding it everywhere for about twenty seven feet. The bus nose dived in the river below sending Dale like a catapult in the thick mud on the river bank.
A few minutes later, Dale opened his eyes and looked at the disaster around him. The bus was on its roof, and debris was everywhere. Dale got up, back hurting like hell, and walked over the the flipped people box.
The man that forced his way onto the bus was laying on the ground with his head impaled on a piece of metal. Nothing he could do for that guy, but the driver might still be alive.
Dale rushed over to the bus doors, but they were stuck shut on something. He stumbled in the mud around to the other side and opened the bus drivers window. What Dale saw almost made him vomit. The bottom half of the driver was still strapped in the seat upside down. The top half of the driver was in the mud crawling towards Dale puking up blood. The drivers eyes are what got Dale the most. Pure black eyes. No white, no color, just jet black.
Scared for his life now, Dale stumbled up the side of the river embankment hoping what he thought was going on wasn't the case, cause if it was, then everybody on this planet was screwed.
