Adam And Francine

Adam Delano was 24
And was by the girls adored.
Every night was a different face
Lying down on his satin pillowcase.
His lifestyle, some might say, was extreme
But oh how he loved it, every time he would beam.

Now one of these girls was Francine Leroue
Who fell in love with him so fast without meaning to.
All day and all night all she could see was his face
And she cried every night into her cotton pillowcase.
She feared she would never see him again
And this thought caused her heart to be slain.

Francine called Adam again and again
And the phone just rang on without end.
So one night she decided to visit his home
Thinking that she would find him alone.
She looked in the window and saw, instead,
A different girl in lace lying on his bed.

Anger welled up inside her breast
She knew what was happening by the way the girl was dressed.
She went to the front door and knocked so loud
Just as she had been knocked down from her cloud.
She waited for him to answer the door
So she could send him straight to the morgue.

When he opened the door, she saw with dismay
That he was dressed up in the same way.
She threw back her fist, then thrust it forward
And he fell quite limp down to the floor.
She decided to take his body to the cemetery
And though she made it, he was quite heavy.

She found the door to the catacomb of his family’s name
So as not to cause the act to bring about fame.
She opened the door and pulled him in
To be sure he would never be seen again.
Remorse was far from the young girl’s mind
She thought, “How could he do this? He was supposed to be mine!”

As she traveled deeper into the crypt
The weight became heavier, causing her arms to grow limp.
Finally she found a corridor
That seemed to have never been visited before.
She walked in and found a large room
Which had walls of stone and an air of gloom.

She pulled the body into the chamber
Taking it deep so she wouldn’t see it again later.
She finally laid the body to rest in a corner
Then she felt the feelings of a true mourner.
Tears fell from her eyes onto the floor
As she ran from the corner to the door.

She shut the door, making sure it was tight
So the body would stay out of sight.
She then fled to from whence she came
Vowing never to return again.
Little did she know that the man she made take a dive
Was actually still alive.

He awoke later on to find himself in complete darkness
And tried desperately to find a way out with weightiness.
He pulled out his cell phone, and on came the light
Adding to, not lessening, his fright.
He saw the graves of his ancestors past
And realized that he must get out fast.

He used the light to find the door
But found it closed, seemingly forever more
He tried his best to budge the door
But couldn’t move it an inch, much less more.
He felt hopeless, and full of despair
Knowing he would soon run out of air.

He looked for signal on his phone,
Beginning to feel sorely alone.
He found no bars in order to call,
And slid down crying on the wall.
His stomach then began to speak
Making him feel even more weak.

Then he heard a rat scamper in front of him
And his hunger began to overcome him.
He knew he would rather die of asphyxiation
Than suffer through dying of starvation.
So thence he pounced upon the rat
And ate it, conserving it to last.

Many hours later his catch had diminished
It was then that indefinitely he knew he was finished.
Then he just sat there and waited to die
Until something hopeful had caught his eye.
Across the room there lay a stone
That could be the key to his way home.

He grabbed the large stone with both hands
And then he gained his hurling stance.
He threw the stone with all his might
And the door opened, although slight.
He ran toward the open door
So he would be in the room no more.

Looking left and right he tried to find
The way out of this torture of the mind.
When he finally found the exit door,
He opened it wide and collapsed on the cemetery floor.
The sun shining brightly in the sky
Brought a joyful, salty tear to his eye.

He stood up slowly and took deep breaths
Knowing that he had escaped his death.
Then he made his way back to his house
Glad he would never have to eat another mouse.
And as far as Francine Leroue gaining his affection,
His mind was in a total different direction.

He went inside the door of his home
And dialed up the police on his phone.
He told the whole story, entirely true
And told them everything he had to do.
The cop on the line said that they
Would resolve this problem within three days.

Two days later, Francine was found and arrested
And after that how easy Adam rested.
One week later he was back in the club
Looking for a girl to love.
But now he’s more cautious and tells them on sight
That it probably won’t last longer than one night.

For the most part I really liked it. It reminded me of a gothic "Trapped in the closet" to some extent. The flow was good for a large portion of the piece, however you and I both know there are places where it gets rather rocky. If you polished the rocky parts a bit more (and I understand how hard that can be) I think it would be worthy of submission.

Side Note: I think I'd prefer to die of hunger than eat a raw rat.
