Natalie. I am a poet who wears her own poetry inked in her skin. I consider myself a blank page not unlike the birthplace of all my writing, and so writing the body, the blank page is my spiritual connection to my true self.
Just to build a little mystery, I come out at night, that's when the energy comes and the dark side's light and the vampires roam. . . . I strut my rasta wear and my suicide poem and a cross from a faith that died before jesus came. . . . I live in a church where I sleep with voodoo dolls, and I won't give up the search for the ghosts in the halls. I wear sandals in the snow, and a smile that'll fade away, and no, I can't look out the window without my shadow getting in the way. . . .
I am also a recently unemployed novelist still working on my first novel. I have a Bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing. I also have most of a Master's, but I dropped out of grad school at the last minute because depression got me. I stopped going to class and started going to therapy instead. It's more tragic that way. Midway through my second year of grad school, I went to Japan, where I had a romantic rendezvous with my friend&lover, who was teaching English there for a year. I got my heart broken in Tokyo. My novel is the only long-term relationship that has never failed me.
This is all true. This is really my life, not my novel. Though I'm starting to confuse the two . . . in my case, life seems to imitate art, not the other way around.
